Clients requirements:
·CRG set up a remote office at one of their drilling sites. Due to the location of the drilling site CRG were unable to get communications for the employees based on site.
·CRG wanted staff/employees at the remote site (Site 8) to have access to e-mail, internet and all other applications as per the users at the OPS Office.
·CRG required communications between the 2 sites, specifically for the monitoring of all critical underground activities.
The W-LAN Solution:
After our extensive investigations, involving site surveying and path plotting we realized we were unable to get a clear line of sight between the OPS Office and Site 8 (remote site) with an optimal Fresnel zone.
Wireless LAN did however identify a building that we could use as a repeater site, from both the OPS Office as well as Site 8 we confirmed clear line of sight to the High Site which would ensure a stable link.
W-LAN installed Airaya wireless equipment at all 3 sites, as well as placing a UPS with an external battery including an SNMP card which has been configured to notify CRG of any power failures at the High site.
Conclusion:
W-LAN have been able to provide solid/stable communications between the 2 CRG Offices, in order to give the users at the remote site (Site 8) the same access and functionality as the users based at the OPS office.
