WiMAX News:

Of all the wireless companies that have announced certified WiMAX products none is yet able to ship commercially viable or stable or reliable WiMAX products, despite all their hype about WIMAX certified products they continue to sell pre-WiMAX products as you may have noticed.

EION's pre-WiMAX product is our LibraMX System operating in the 3.5GHz licensed frequency and so far LibraMX have proved much more reliable and stable than all of our competitors pre-WiMAX products.

The WiMAX industry is still in its infancy stage and is currently facing many teething problems, we expect it to take another 12 to 18 months before the WiMAX industry matures and becomes commercially viable and reliable.  The same was said about WiFi some years back as WiFi had to go the very same path a few years ago and WiMAX will follow the same growth path.

EION intends to become a major player in the WiMAX industry with WiMAX certified products over the next 6 to 12 months. In the meantime EION continues to improve the LibraMX system and W-LAN (Pty) Ltd has this support and assurance to provide our customers with the best available performance and much larger range and throughput capacities.

To give you real numbers of paying customers using the LibraMX:

Saudi Arabia (One year operation launched June 2005) www.bayanat.com.sa

=========================================================

Today we have 5 cities covered with Libra MX System Cells service more than 350 Links in the 5 cities. Riyad only has 200 Links with two Libra MX Cells each is 4 Sectors 7 MHz with total deliverable net capacity (2*4*35 = 280 Mbps).

Libya (Phase 1 finished and Phase 2 under deployment)

=========================================

All Major banks and branches in Tripoli are connected to the CBL (Central Bank of Libya) via One Libra MX Cell (Three Sectors) 3.5 MHz with total deliverable net capacity (3*18=54 Mbps)

We will be travelling next week to launch phase 2 in Beni Ghzai (Another city) that will use the same Libra MX system. All other cities will use Libra 5800 & U3 PMP systems because they have smaller number of links.

Wireless LAN (Pty) Ltd products are RoHS compliant:

With the introduction of the RoHS directive the electronics manufacturing market is in a huge panic to meet demand of RoHS compliant products.

What is the RoHS Directive?

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. This directive bans new electrical and electronic equipment on the EU market containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. The RoHS directive comes into effect on 1 July 2006 in the European Union

Wireless LAN (Pty) Ltd is proud to announce that the EION Wireless (Wi-LAN) products are amongst the first in the world to comply with the RoHS directive.

OTTAWA, Canada – July, 2006; EION Wireless, a division of EION Inc., has announced that its Ranger 5050 Wireless Bridge is fully RoHS compliant. As of July 1st, 2006, all Ranger 5050 Wireless Bridges will conform to the directive outlined by the European Union for hazardous substances

EION's Ranger 5050 is already well suited for deployment in the European marketplace since it operates in the 5150-5350 MHz and 5470-5725 MHz bands which are publicly available in all Member States of the European Union. With Dynamic Data Rate Selection and OFDM technology to maximize data content and throughput with each transmission, the Ranger 5050’s cost/performance ratio is one of the best in the industry.

The RoHS compliance of the Ranger 5050 is indicated with two different logos on the product. One is a drawing of a trash can with a slash through it to indicate that this product should be recycled and not disposed of. The second symbol is a stylized RoHS logo indicating that the product is RoHS compliant.

Wireless LAN (Pty) Ltd launches 300Mbps WiFi:

Buffalo ’s AirStation Nfiniti™ wireless solutions deliver ultimate connectivity across your wireless world for the broadest coverage at blazing fast speeds. Designed to stream high-definition (HD) video, music, media and gaming, Nfinity™ gives you infinite possibilities to test the limits of your wireless network. Combine 2-in-1 Nfiniti™ Wireless Router & Access Point WZR-G300N with Nfiniti™ Wireless Notebook Adapter and get the ultimate bandwidth, range and reliability for your wireless world.

- Designed with the new IEEE802.11n (Draft Standard Specifications)

What is Nfiniti (draft 802.11n)?

Nfiniti (draft 802.11n) is the next-generation wireless standard promising to deliver maximum performance and superior range that surpasses all previous wireless technology. Draft 802.11n is also backwards compatible with wireless B and G networks.

Nfiniti from Buffalo uses 4 cutting edge technologies to give you optimal wireless range and performance.

MIMO
It means multiple-input multiple-output communications; in the Nfiniti technology it refers to the communication using dual-array multiple-antenna for multiple radios broadcast and receive at the same time to maximize performance.

Smart Antennas
Smart Antenna refers to a system of antenna arrays with smart signal processing algorithms that are used to identify the direction of arrival (DOA) of the signal, and use it to calculate beamforming vectors, to track and locate the antenna beam on the mobile/target. The antenna could optionally be any sensor.

Multiple Spatial Streams
Numerous streams of content can move over the same channel at the same time, multiplying the capacity of each channel.

Double-Wide Channels
Uses two 20 MHz channels when they are available to double the capacity again.

About Draft 802.11n
In March 2006, the IEEE unanimously approved a draft version of what is expected to become the next generation standard for Wireless Networks. The standard provides for increased range and speeds as compared to current 802.11g standards. The technology that enables the significant speed and range improvements is known as MIMO (multiple-in, multiple-out), MIMO uses multiple antennas that can each send and receive more than one wireless signal to deliver 4x the range of Wireless-G products. The use of multiple spatial streams allows numerous streams of content to be transmitted over the same channel at the same time- multiplying the capacity of each channel. It also uses two 20 MHz channels (when they are available) to double the capacity again to deliver 12x the speed of Wireless-G products. Draft 802.11n will also have backward compatibility with current 802.11b and g products .

Buffalo is solely distributed by Wireless LAN (Pty) Ltd
